Good morning Mr. Magnuson,
You may recall we spoke about four months ago when I called to thank you for your audiotape and the invaluable rules you've been gracious to share with the world. Although I don't trade futures, I feel your guidelines are applicable to all financial markets. Yesterday, I observed the rules of "When in doubt, stay out" and "Trade the market, not the money" as well as "Cut your losses short." And by doing so, I liquidated QQQ December 37 calls for $2.00, contracts I'd purchased for $2.10 the week before. This decision was based on my comfort level of the markets and the political uncertainty that faces all of us as Americans.
This morning, those contracts have lost 12.5% and I was able to avoid that loss since I'm sitting on the sidelines. By staying an intelligent speculator, my trading capital has been preserved with only a minimal loss. I listen to your program several times, often at least once a day for that matter and I've also shared your rules with others. Some have come back and said these 17 rules are basic stuff, but I vehemently disagree with that opinion. Not only do your rules help anyone's trading plan, your rules and their structure are a trading plan itself, and I have to say that before your free audio tape, I was breaking every one of them, every chance I could get.
On a side note, your speaking style is excellent and from the constant reinforcement of the tape, I've found your style and inflection actually creep into my own public speaking engagements, and that has actually improved the response I've received from the audience.
I've also converted your program to MP3 so I can listen to it on audio CD, rest assured I haven't distributed it on Napster or other comparable MP3 service, when friends of mine ask my secret or want a copy, I give them the phone number to 1st American (editor's note: now incorporated into Man Financial) and suggest they give your retail group or yourself a call.
I have to credit you for my success as a profitable trader and for other things, and if you are ever in the Kansas City area, you must let my fiance and I entertain you at some of our city's fine restaurants. I imagine that with the proliferation of your program, you have countless friends disbursed throughout the world who are equally as grateful as I am.
